6/26/2015 0 Comments 6/22/15 RAW ReviewFrom the POV of Maggie Riven, my RAW reviews are based on my own feelings about wrestling and the creative storyline. Also, I am a huge fan of Man-Candy. So, without further delay, here is your belated RAW review from Monday night.
We start the night off with Brock Lesner giving an apology to the fans and to Michael Cole. We had to figure something like this would happen as the WWE is working to make Lesner likable against Weasel Seth (More on that later). I am not sure I like Brock, and I have always felt the man has no personality. However, he is good eye candy from the neck down, so I will give him a pass. Kane V. Ambrose I will never understand why they just throw Ambrose into matches with Kane. I want to assume that an underlying story-line is that Ambrose wants Demon training and Kane keeps refusing. Not that Dean needs training. I mean, the forearm alone in his basket of beatdowns is always enough to make me go "OOO". Still, I do love watching them both fight, and I felt cheated when Seth Rollins came running in. Either let this feud escalate and play out the way it should, or end it. BTW, Kane doesn't need interference in my opinion. Getting the Band Back Together Oh, Seth. Why do you let the WWE write you this way? I call this version of Seth Rollins, Weasel Seth. He is a weenie and evil, and we see a guy that is an amazing wrestler appear weak and incapable. This segment just drives it home as he tries to get Kane and Joey back on his team. So sad. So pathetic. Worse, we all know that Seth is AMAZING in the ring, but it is overshadowed by this story line. PTP v The Ascension Anytime I get to see Titus O'Neal and that ass of his, I am happy. I love the Prime Time Players. They have to be one of the tag teams that entertains me the most. With that said, can someone tell The Ascension that Demolition wants their ring gear back? Sheamus v. Roman Reigns Who doesn't like looking at Roman? Also, who doesn't like hearing Sheamus talk? Wait, Maggie, take a minute and get back to the match. First, this match is good. Sheamus is getting to be more brutal, which I enjoy, and Roman is always entertaining. My issue right now is why are we pushing Sheamus? What about him interests the fans enough for him to be the MITB winner? Do I want to see Sheamus as WWE Champ? I am not sure that this feels right to me. Much like seeing Seth in that belt made him look tiny, I can't imagine Sheamus there either. Great match though, until... Bray Wyatt and Roman It has been a long time since I felt like WWE crossed the line. I think this angel with Roman's daughter is just too much for me. I don't like it, but I know that we need to make Bray look scary. But WHY THE HELL IS THIS DIRECTED AT ROMAN? Does Bray just throw darts at a superstar map and then that is how he decided who to jack with that week? It makes no sense to me. I think that there is so much talent with Bray, but this is just a waste. Roman, when you agreed to use your daughter in this angle, what were you thinking? Neville V. Kofi Neville is my sweet lil' flying muffin and Kofi is the coffee accompaniment. I really hate The New Day angle, but I love watching Kofi and I am glad we have the opportunity to see him again. Neville is always impressive and I want to receive his Arrow. (wink) Barrett V. Ryder Drool over Wade for 10 seconds. After that, it's nap time. Cena and Owens I don't like John Cena or Kevin Owens. I do, however, love this rivalry. So much is going on here and the drama feels real. I love how they are playing off each other, and Kevin Owens is really impressing me with coming of as truly a bad dude. I am always glued to these segments. Triple H plays Daddy Warbucks again. Bellas v. Tamina and Naomi So much controversy over the Divas division lately. Personally, I think all the Divas are good in the ring, but bad on the mic. If I could help them in any way, it would be to give them some acting lessons. As wrestlers, I wouldn't want to meet any of them in a dark alley. I don't like the Bella angle right now. I really hate this Mean Girls thing going on because it is so cliché. Next, when you put Tamina and Naomi in there as the "thugs" to the Bella "Barbie" image, it makes me hurt. Really, with all the feminist discussions out there, WWE is venturing to create a racial issue here too? I just think this division needs a revamp. Perhaps swap out the NXT divas with the current main divas. Then, we will see what real Divas can do. Ryback v. Mark Henry Ryback - I love you. I want to bury my face in your chest and arms and let you pet my hair. This match was boring. Then, we have Big Show come in. So wherever one WWE retiree goes, there is always another one. They come in twos, you know. Dolph Ziggler v. Adam Rose Dolph is now mid-carded and is against a newly mustached Adam Rose. Adam, you look like a child molester. More than Bray, I think. The match is OK, and the one upping of the tonsil hockey was not the deciding factor. Lana, Dolph and Rusev Does anyone else not understand this angle? I get the break up. It is good for Lana, but where did this thing come in for Dolph. There is no real foundation for it. It just appeared and there is no back story. Not sure how I feel about that. Final beatdown on Brock I enjoyed Seth getting tossed like a rag doll around the ring. I thought the interference of Kane and Joey was excessive, but it does make Brock look beatable. We need to believe that in order to make the next Battleground main event an actual competition. What I really would like to see is Seth beat Brock fairly and without question. That would make me feel like the WWE is doing what they should be with the massive talent they have. Tune in again for my next review!!
