Hey everyone! LaKeisha here. So this is my first blog post, and I had to put a lot of thought into what I wanted to write. Lately there has been a lot of talk about Dean being the next Stone Cold Steve Austin, and though I could somewhat agree with people's perception of Dean, I don't think he's completely the next Stone Cold.
In 2011, I received news that the WWE signed a guy named Jon Moxley who would become Dean Ambrose. I didn't know who Jon Moxley was, and I will admit, I wasn't thrilled. All I cared about was that when he arrived in the WWE, would he capture my attention? He most certainly did. November 18, 2012 changed everything for me as a fan. Dean Ambrose appeared on my screen, and even though I was mad about what happened, Dean Ambrose captivated me at that moment. He seemed like the most calculating, the most vindictive one in The Shield. He had a brash style that was unique. I had never seen anyone like him. In my mind, he reminded me of Stone Cold, but he wasn't Stone Cold. My only question was: How would he do on his own? That question would be answered with the "chair shot heard 'round the world". The night Seth Rollins betrayed The Shield. Dean Ambrose, singles competitor, debuted with a new attitude, new attire, and new music. At the time, many wondered if Dean could do it on his own? Dean had drive, charisma, and attitude. He is the complete package. Yet, would the creative team and Vince McMahon himself agree? In Dean's words, "Yep!" After a series of missteps, Dean finally had a focus, the Intercontinental Championship. While it was passed around like a game of "Hot Potato", Dean would showcase his ability at the show of shows, Wrestlemania, but it wasn't until he got a pin over a former foe that truly put Dean squarely in the title hunt, and see his star rise. So given that history, is Dean the next Stone Cold? He could be, but in his own way. He's not exactly like Stone Cold, in fact, Dean Ambrose is one of a kind. There's a grit about Dean that's refreshing. He makes me want to watch. He keeps me entertained. That's what I see in Dean. Dirty, gritty, raw. That's Dean. Stone Cold was Stone Cold. He was like the everyday guy who hated his boss, didn't trust anyone, and wanted to take it to "the man". Dean Ambrose? Well, if you know anything about Jon Moxley, he's just a sick guy who hates his boss, hates being lied to, values loyalty and brotherhood, and will kick your teeth down your throat. Let me ask again...is Dean the next Stone Cold? Till next we meet, this is LaKeisha signing off. And remember to do something creative today!
